Description
PERMA-HAND™ Suture, Black, Size 3-0, 5 x 18", with SH needle, is a sterile, nonabsorbable surgical suture composed of natural silk protein derived from the domesticated Bombyx mori silkworm. The raw silk fibers are processed to eliminate natural waxes and gums, enhancing biocompatibility and uniformity for medical use.
PERMA-HAND™ sutures are not absorbed by the body and are slowly encapsulated by fibrous connective tissue. Despite being nonabsorbable, they are considered biologically inert, producing minimal tissue reaction. These properties make them suitable for external use and for internal applications where prolonged tensile support is not necessary.
The SH needle is a 1/2 circle taper point needle, designed for soft, easily penetrated tissues such as subcutaneous layers, peritoneum, and mucosa. Common surgical uses include general closure, ligatures, and soft tissue approximation in gastrointestinal, ophthalmic, and gynecological procedures.
